This event is to raise sponsorship funds for Laurie Lindstrom for her participation to New York City to run the New York City Marathon for DetermiNation for the American Cancer Society. This 26.2 mile race is a World Marathon Major. Laurie lost her son Brian to cancer November 2008 and is running it to help kill cancer one step, one cent, and one cell at a time.  http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?fr_id=89738&pg=personal&px=47031029

This year's journey has a new dimension as I have been diagnosed with Follicular Lymphoma. I am blessed to have support from family and a great medical team, but most important to me is to share the good news about how the American Cancer Society can help. Last year in NYC I was able to visit the Hope Lodge that our money directly supports. It is a home away from home for patients visiting cancer treatment centers in the city. There are more than 30 Hope Lodges in the United States. Travel to the best hospital to treat your form of cancer can be daunting. I met one man and his mother in NYC who were battling lymphoma in it's late stages. He was so profoundly appreciative of the Hope Lodge. I know when we were in Grand Rapids, battling Brian's cancer the Renucci House was our home away from home.
