The I Am Woman 5K partners with the Centra Foundation to raise funds for pediatric care. This ensures we can partner with our families and help them to live their best lives. Funds raised have helped secure specialized newborn and pediatric equipment such as fetal monitors, radiant Panda warmers and Omni beds for the Intensive Care Nursery. This equipment allows us to treat children close to home.
*** Yes, we know that there is a slight inequity because the I am Woman 5K is a women-only race. Men and women are scored separately so there is no difference relative to overall and age group awards. ***

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
You DO NOT have to be a member of the Lynchburg Road Runners (LRRC) to participate. However, registration discounts are given to LRRC members. Please see the dates, deadlines, and the amount of the discount for each race on the event’s registration page. A membership must be valid on the day of the event to receive the discount.
HOW ARE POINTS AWARDED?
Points will be awarded to all participants in each race based on the quality of their performance compared to others in their gender division. Cumulative point totals from the race series will be posted prior to each subsequent event, so all participants will know how they rank in comparison with others in their gender division. Chip time will be used to determine a participant’s official “race series” placement for each race series event.
LRRC RACE SERIES POINT ALLOCATION,
Points between 1-100 will be awarded based on each participant’s percentile finish in their gender division. For example a runner placing 20th out of 100 finishers would score approximately 80 points. Scores for all series races a runner competes in will be used for the cumulative totals. Ranking or awards will be based on total points: Top 3 Overall M/F will be determined first, then Top Master runner M/F (40+). Age divisions will then be determined without “Overall award winners”. There is no “double-dipping.” Earning an overall award or master award (40+) takes precedence over and removes you from consideration for an age group award.
WHO GETS AN AWARD?
To be eligible for a Spring/Summer Series award, runners must complete in at least 5 races. For the Fall Series, runners must complete in at least 4 races to qualify for an award.
Awards are given to the top 3 overall male / female and top Masters male / female (40 years old and up). Awards are given to the top 3 male/female in each age group. A special award will be presented to those that complete all 9 races. For the Fall Series, age divisions for series awards are based on a participant's age as of September 30; for the Spring/Summer Series, age is determined as of May 30.
HOW MUCH DOES THE SERIES COST?
The Lynchburg Road Runners Race Series does not incur any additional charges beyond the entry fee for each race.
DOES VIRTUAL PARTICIPATION COUNT?
Please note that while some races offer the option for virtual participation, results from virtual races do not count towards your overall score in the series. However, your participation in these virtual events will still count towards completing the entire race series. We encourage you to stay active and engaged, no matter how you choose to race!
AGE RESTRICTIONS – HEALTHY YOUTH RUNNING & DEVELOPMENT
Please note that after carefully reviewing the recommendations of the Cleveland Clinic and guidelines of the Road Runners Club of America pertaining to healthy ages for youth participation in road races, series qualification is limited to the youth runner’s age.
