Race Packet Prep/T-shirt folding

DAYS BEFORE EVENT: Assist with sorting, folding and organizing race T-shirts by size and category. Volunteers will help prepare participant packets or ensure T-shirts are ready for easy distribution on race day. Attention to detail and neat folding are appreciated to keep the process efficient and organized.

Early Registration & Packet Pick-up

2 NIGHTS BEFORE EVENT: Assist with checking in runners and distributing race t-shirts and bibs. Volunteers will help participants get race-ready with a warm welcome and efficient service. Bringing a smartphone is encouraged (but not required) to use the RaceDay CheckIn app.

Set-up

Details

MORNING OF EVENT: Be part of the early crew that gets everything ready before participants arrive! Volunteers will help with setting up tents, tables, signage and water stations. Tasks may include unloading supplies and setting up color stations along the course. May require some heavy lifting. Comfortable clothes, closed-toe shoes and a positive attitude are a must-coffee often included!

Parking

You must be 15 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

BEFORE EVENT: Help direct vehicles to designated parking areas in an organized and safe manner. Volunteers will guide drivers, manage traffic flow and ensure emergency lanes remain clear. Must be comfortable standing for extended periods and using radios if needed. A friendly attitude and calm communication are key!

Registration & Sign-in

Details

BEFORE & DURING EVENT: Welcome runners and assist with a smooth check-in process using the RaceDay Check-in app. Volunteers will confirm registrations, hand out race packets and T-shirts. Also assisting with same-day sign ups as needed. Basic comfort with using a smartphone or tablet is helpful. A friendly attitude and ability to stay organized under pressure.

During Event

Color Station

Details

DURING EVENT: Help put the “color” in Colors 4 Cancer! We need enthusiastic volunteers at each of our 6 color stations along the race route to toss vibrant color powder on participants as they pass by. This is a high-energy, messy (but fun!) role—expect to get covered in color yourself. Each station needs at least 10 volunteers, so grab your friends and come ready to bring the excitement. Great for teams or groups who don’t mind getting a little dirty for a great cause!

Water Station

Details

DURING EVENT: Keep our runners hydrated and motivated! Volunteers will hand out cups of water to participants at designated spot along the course and at the finish line. You’ll also help keep the area tidy by collecting used cups and restocking as needed. We need 4–5 volunteers at station on the course and 2–3 more at the finish line. This is a great way to support the runners and be part of the action!

Race Route Direction/Cheering

DURING EVENT: Be the energy along the course! We need 2–3 volunteers at various points to cheer on runners, help direct them along the correct route, and keep an eye out for anyone who may need assistance. You can stand, sit, or even dance—whatever keeps the encouragement flowing! Feel free to bring your own chair, signs, cowbells, or anything that adds to the fun. Your enthusiasm helps make the race experience unforgettable!

Fruit Station

Details

DURING EVENT: Help refuel our runners with a healthy treat! Volunteers will cut up fruit and hand it out to participants at the finish line. You’ll keep the table stocked, organized, and clean while offering a warm smile and congratulations to our finishers. Light food handling and standing are involved—gloves will be provided. This is a great way to support participants as they celebrate their achievement!

First Aid

Clean up

AFTER EVENT: Help us wrap up a great event! Volunteers will assist with taking down stations, collecting signs, packing supplies, and making sure the race area is clean and clear. Many hands make light work, and your help is crucial to ending the day smoothly. Some lifting may be involved. This is a perfect role for those who want to help behind the scenes and leave the space better than we found it!
