Collect posters, tape and staplers from assigned address on Friday May 10. Put up race posters along the route to promote the race and inform residents. Attach posters to lampposts and other appropriate street furniture along the streets that you are assigned, by end of day on Sunday May 12.

Put up official DDOT "no parking signs" along the race routes. Collect signs, tape and staplers from assigned address on Saturday May 11. Attach signs to lampposts and other appropriate street furniture along the streets that you are assigned by 8am on May 16.

Critical role early on race day morning - and again later on in the morning when all the races are over - for skilled drivers with YOUR OWN TRUCK able to lift and transport various items (e.g. tables, chairs, bottled water, fruit etc) to set-up Stanton Park and break it down again.

Mile Marker Signs

Arrive promptly on Race Day morning, collect the mile marker signs from the POD, and then put them in place at the mile locations (six total) around the course. * Move mile marker for the 3K * Then collect them in at the end of the races and return to the POD. Capitol Hill Classic volunteer experience required.

Bag Check

Based in the designated Bag Check area in SW corner of Stanton Park, this outdoor, physical activity interacts with hundreds of runners as they drop and collect their bags and personal items before and after their respective races.

Bike Valet

Assist the bike valet company with checking bikes and scooters in and out of the designated valet area in the NE corner of Stanton Park. It's outdoor, physical activity, and a great chance to interact with runners and community members.

Traffic Safety Support

Details

Two volunteers to ensure vehicles do not interfere with the 10K race at RFK Fields. Despite much messaging ahead of time, some drivers attempt to access RFK Fields during the 10K race, but MPD are unable to control traffic entering the parking area from Oklahoma Avenue (because RFK Fields is private land). High visibility jackets are advised.

Bike Brigade

Stanton Park Patrol Team

Ensure runners' and visitors' questions are answered, while also ensuring the smooth running and coordination of unstaffed activities in Stanton Park during and after the races, to include oversight of the water and fruit supplies, support and engagement with sponsors and vendors, and coordination with trash collection services.

Charged with capturing the joy, energy and excitement of Race Day, for runners, supporters, volunteers and staff, from set-up thru all three races at multiple locations along the route. Removal of Race Posters and No Parking Signs

To be completed on Sunday afternoon and into Monday: remove and dispose of all race posters and no parking signs along the race routes. We must leave no trace! The team will coordinate and assign specific streets/block to individuals to evenly divide the work.
