  • The 43-Crossing Club: Long-time TTL organizer Walter Palmer has completed the swim crossing 43 times.

  • The Next Generation: In 2025, 14-year-old Wes Crutchfield was the first swim finisher, and 9-year-old George Edwards earned the Jennie Stocks Award.

  • The 4-Mile Truth: For decades, local legend called it a 5-mile swim. Modern GPS finally "shrank" the lake to 4 miles—though it still feels like 10 when the wind picks up!

  • In 2012, more than 1,000 people participated in Take the Lake
