Tri-Shark Classic PUPS Beginning Triathlon & Duathlon Program — $120.00 ea.

The PUPS program is a 12-week training program (2 ability levels) designed to prepare you to complete either the Tri-Shark Classic Triathlon or Duathlon. The Tri-Shark Classic Triathlon is a sprint triathlon featuring a 600 yard swim, 13 mile bike and 3.1 mile run. The Duathlon features a 2 mile run, 13 mile bike and 3.1 mile run. The race is held at Comlara County Park, Hudson, IL. This program is designed for those who want to do their first triathlon/duathlon or are beginners and want to do better. This program caters to new and beginner athletes. The Pups program is based at Illinois Wesleyan University. All group workouts are optional and not required to participate in the PUPS program. Meetings are held on Tuesdays at 6 PM - 7:30 PM.

12 Week Program led by a 32-year professional coach (Masters degree, USAT Level II certified) and experienced athlete mentors
Weekly group swim, bike and run sessions
Virtual (classroom if possible) clinics designed to help make you successful on race day
Triathlon course pre-view – train together on the Tri-Shark Triathlon Course!
Lots of fun and support with others
Post-race celebration

Tri-Shark Classic Triathlon or Duathlon Training Plan ONLY — $45.00

If you cannot join the PUPS beginner triathlon program or don't live in McLean County this plan can help.

This 12-week training plan for the Tri-Shark Classic Triathlon or Duathlon is designed for the new or beginner level person. If you choose this plan you are looking to complete your first triathlon or may have already completed a sprint triathlon and have a goal of improving. Weekly volume ranges from 4-7 hours per week with recovery weeks every third week to allow for adaptation and improved performance.

This plan is simple to follow and includes a description of all workout abbreviations and execution details. Two levels are included for all swim, bike and run workouts. This allows each person flexibility to mix and match workouts specific to their own abilities. Information is included that explains how to complete this plan.

The training plan begins in March 2026. All plan purchasers will receive an email with details in January 2026.
