Can't Stop Running Co XC Camp 2026

July 10th 8am-7:30pm

2026 Camp is cancelled

Unfortunately, we've decided to fully cancel XC Camp for this year.
The headline above tells the story, but here is an explanation of how we came to this difficult and unfortunate decision:

A little over a week ago, we received word that the pool wouldn't be available as expected.  When we heard this news and understood the impact to camp, our original plan was to cancel for 2026.  However, we came up with the alternative option to have our 1 day camp, with changes to the location and some of the activities.  We hear from repeat participants that they look forward to camp and we felt like giving this one day option was better than cancelling.  Some participants chose to proceed with a refund and those were issued accordingly.

Since our decision to change to a one day camp for this year, we have been working on the modified schedule of events.  The location of Charleston Falls and Adventures on the Great Miami have been a good option for us.  We were set for a great place to run, some activities in the afternoon, and a tent that we could use for our speaker sessions.  As we've been making our plans, we looked at the forecast for Friday (80%+ chance of storms)

I genuinely believe that altering plans for storms 5 days out will often lead to a sunny, beautiful day!  But we have been presented with making a decision about camp based on the likelihood that those storms will arrive.  Some of the concerns of storms on Friday could include: Inability to do our runs or related activities, inability to go on our canoeing trip on the river, and with our food and speaker sessions under a open-sided tent there are just too many parts of camp that could be impacted negatively.  With our normal 3 day format, we've been able to tweak and adjust the schedule to wait out rain and storms, but with a shortened 1 day format, we lack the time to recover if a storm eats up part of the day and certainly we also have some safety concerns if any of it is severe.

Lastly, it's important to us that you and your campers are seeing the value in camp.  We recognize the cost of camp and we want to make sure you are getting a worthwhile experience.  With the chance of storms, we're simply unable to provide that guarantee.

We are truly disappointed with this decision.  We've been hosting this camp for 12 years and its a significant part of our summer.  We believe in the opportunity for campers from 20+ schools to interact and learn together, all while having a good time.  We hate to miss a year, but we're going to take this and begin our planning for 2027.

Refunds will be sent out in the next day, to the card you used when paying your camp deposit.  It likely takes a few days for the refund to appear on your card.

Thanks again for your support of camp, we hope you'll have an opportunity to join us in 2027!
