Knox County Suicide Prevention 5K is CANCELED
New Date: TBA
Today’s Knox County Suicide Prevention 5K is CANCELED due to expected severe weather and lightning.
This was an incredibly difficult decision to make. With lightning projected throughout the time of our event, we do not believe we can safely hold the 5K—even with weather delays. The safety of our participants, volunteers, families, and community must come first.
We also recognize that this is not simply another event on the calendar. Many of those who planned to join us today are suicide loss survivors who come to walk, remember, and honor someone they love. We know how much emotion is carried into this day and how meaningful it can be to have a dedicated space to honor their memory alongside others who understand.
To everyone who was preparing to walk in honor of someone today, we are deeply sorry for the disappointment and disruption this cancellation causes.
We will reschedule the Knox County Suicide Prevention 5K and will announce a new date as soon as possible. We want to make sure our community still has the opportunity to come together safely, remember those we have lost, support one another, and continue raising awareness for suicide prevention.
Thank you for your understanding, and most importantly, please stay safe today. 💜
