This race is one of the most scenic Half Marathon courses on the East Coast! The race begins on the historic Bartlett's Farm. The Bartlett Family Farm is the oldest working farm on Nantucket and features Island grown vegatables, fruit and a modern market. Bartlett's Farm will open early for our race and you can get breakfast sandwiches and coffee for your supporters before, during anf after the race.
Set on charming Nantucket Island, the race route travels through sandy beach roads with incredible ocean and pond views, bike paths, and lightly traveled neighborhood streets. Approximately 60% of the course is on dirt roads with a few sandy sections that can be challenging. The course begins and ends at Bartlett’s Farm and features the globally-rare sandplain grassland ecosystem of the Nantucket Land Bank’s Smooth Hummocks Coastal Preserve. The Half Marathon is two loops and the Quarter Marathon is one loop.
The course will be very well marked and volunteers and/or Nantucket Police will be stationed at intersections and street crossing.
The Race is sponsored by the Nantucket Athletic Association ("NAA") which is a non-profit - all volunteer effort. The NAA supports other races on Nantucket, various youth sports such as Nantucket High School Cross Country, Soccer, Sailing, Swimming. NAA also sponsors free family swim at the Nantucket Community Pool, Adult Learn to Swim and Monday Mile - Nantucket's weekly kid race. NAA is the leading fundraising team for Nantucket Swim Across America which supports cancer and palliative care on Nantucket. NAA also organizes the Island's swim and running groups, Nantucket Open Water Swimming and the Monument Running Group.
