Description
Harris Lake Reverse Sprint & Olympic Triathlon
This is a multisport event weekend to remember with your choice of reverse sprint or Olympic triathlon or aquabike plus a crazy fun party, brought to you by Humans of Steel Racing, a subsidiary of The Endurance Edge, a women-owned Triangle business. Let's create multisport memories for the entire family. Everyone shares a finish line and gets to celebrate their accomplishment! It will not only challenge you, but be super fun!
We are beginner friendly. In fact, if this is your FIRST race, we have a special, handmade (huge) plaque for you to have your picture taken with.
Held at Harris Lake County Park in New Hill, NC, convenient to Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill, Fuquay Varina, and Holly Springs, you'll run through the single track trails, ride through Hollys Springs, then swim in Harris Lake (yes, in that order...since we like to be different...we're humans of steel, after all!).
As of 2024: Sprint AND Olympic course, high school athlete friendly and USAT sanctioned, so you'll get the additional benefits of earning USAT points for rankings. You can view the rules here.
2025 Athlete & Spectator Guide is HERE.

Course Maps
**Remember the unique "reverse" format of run, bike, swim (or bike/swim for the aquabike). Updated course maps with GPX links can be found here: https://bit.ly/HOSTriMaps
- The 5k and 10k trail run LOOP winds through the single track Peninsula hiking trails and double track gravel maintenance roads, providing ample shade and scenery. It's FLAT (less than 150ft elevation). While trail running shoes are not necessary, we wouldn't recommend racing flats.
- The bike is a moderately rolling course that goes through the roads of Holly Springs. There will be BIG signs, volunteers and police at turns, however, the course is not closed to traffic.
- Finally, the swim is in Harris Lake along the shoreline and will have plenty of lifeguards and water support.
Benefiting Girls on the Run of the Triangle
Once again, your donations go to making a difference in the lives of Girls around the Triangle. In 2022, GOTR was able to give out over $70,000 in scholarships for our dynamic girls to participate. Donations also go towards supplying sites with t-shirts, program bins, water bottles, medals, and our amazing culminating 5k experience.
$205 -Can fund a girl's program experience for a season
$85- Can cover a team's program t-shirts
$23- Can cover a team's water bottles
$3253- Can sponsor a team of 15 (this is our GOAL for Humans of Steel!)
Sustainability: BYOB
We're working on creating a top notch race experience while keeping the environment in mind.
In an effort to keep trash to a minimum, we're asking participants to haul out their trash and recycling. We encourage athletes and spectators to bring ample water bottles since it will likely be hot! Water will be provided at the race start/finish, on the run course and at transition, but you'll need to BYOB (bring your own bottle)
Athlete, Volunteer and Spectator Guide 2025
Here's the 2025 Athlete & Spectator Guide. including maps, packing list and more!
🚴♂️ CYCLISTS, TAKE NOTE:
The bike course is one loop for Sprint and two loops for Olympic. There’s a key turn: Sprint turns RIGHT, Olympic turns LEFT. We’ll have signs, police, and volunteers to guide you, but please remember your route!
🏊 NEW for Swimmers Needing Extra Support:
If you’d like extra attention in the water, grab a RED swim cap at the start. This signals our water support team to keep a closer eye on you.
🚗 Park Exit Info:
If you need to leave early, you may do so after the final cyclist has exited the park (estimated around 9:00–9:30am). Before 11am, please expect delays at the exit — a police officer will direct traffic, prioritizing cyclists re-entering the park.
🚙 Park Entry Info:
We’ve reserved the entire park for the morning, so you won’t compete with other visitors. The sheriff on duty will determine when it's safe to enter, based on race activity. Please use caution and be patient when driving near cyclists — both on the roads and inside the park. We know you're eager to cheer on your athlete (and the kids’ race!), but safety comes first.
