Description

Hello Cobbler Girls Golf Supporters:

We are ready to kick off our 2024 fundraising campaign. I wanted to take a moment to explain our fundraiser. Fundraising is not something that I look forward to and I’ve tried to find a way to raise funds that don’t involve us having to sell a product that a lot of people don’t want or need. We use a fundraising company to generate most of our funds with simple monetary donations. This option doesn’t always work the best for everyone, so you are able to write a check as well if that works better for you, please make it out to “RCC Girls Golf”. We prefer checks over cash so the person donating knows that we have received the donation.

The fundraiser has nothing to do with who’s on varsity or what meets our girls go to. Performances earn them varsity spots, not the amount of money raised. This season I’m hoping that each athlete will be able to raise at least $100 to help fund our needs.

Lastly, I wanted to explain why we fundraise, unfortunately we don’t have funding for everything that we need. There are things that we can get through our golf budget provided by the school and whenever possible I try to use this method first. Below is a list of what the money is used for:

1. Range Balls – Every course we play throughout the season charges us for range balls. Each course charges a different amount but we usually get charged between $7 and $15 per girl we have playing that day. We usually take 4-6 girls to each event, and we average 16 to 20 events per golf season. This expense alone adds up quickly.

2. Food, Snacks and Beverages - Because golf meets tend to be four or more hours long, we try to provide food, snacks, and beverages for the girls while they are on the course. Athletes must walk the course with their golf bag and as well all know it can get warm during the spring season. We like to have beverages and healthy snacks available for them on the course to help keep them comfortable and energized. When we travel, we do stop for meals as well, especially on overnight trips, which is 3 to 6 times a year. We would like to be able to cover the cost of meals as well for our girls.

3. Equipment: As anyone who plays golf or has been around the game it is not a cheap sport and is not affordable to some girls. We try our best to provide golf clubs for those who want to play but cannot afford clubs or other equipment. We use a portion of our fundraising to purchase equipment for our girls to use. We are provided a limited number of golf balls though the school each season, however those do not cover our needs. Fundraising money is used to purchase golf balls as well, which adds up quickly.

Thank you for supporting our Central Girls Golf Program!
