Description
Back by popular demand. Putnam County’s most iconic Race. Yes, after a five year hiatus our most iconic race is back! The Putnam County Classic is now a 5.3 mile run to support the Mahopac Fire Department, which will get half of the proceeds.
Of course the race is on July 4th and will start at 7AM. Registration is open and there is an early bird discount through June 10. Taconic members get an additional $5.00 off throughout the registration period. There will be race day registration.
Circling the beautiful shores of Lake Mahopac, this scenic and challenging run showcases all Mahopac has to offer.
This year it will start across Route 6 from the Mahopac Fire Department with the starting line on Croton Falls Road between Route 6 and E. Lake Blvd. The 5.3 mile course starts out flat and fast for the first half for a great warm up, running west along the lake and through the town center. The course then circles around the West and North shore of Lake Mahopac’s stunning homes, scenic lake views, and grit-testing hills. The course finishes off the final mile passing by the Mahopac Golf Course with a straight shot of flat terrain to the finish line on Croton Falls Road.
This is going to be a Fun and Festive event!
The awards ceremony will take place overlooking Lake Mahopac with scenic views and a great place to take pictures after the race. There will be fun and festivities afterwards including morning Mimosa’s and Bloody Mary’s at Friends Waterfront Grill and a discounted brunch sponsored by the VFW, both a short walk from the finish line.
Runners and guests will also be able to view the Annual 4th of July boat parade, which begins at 10am on Lake Mahopac. Bring your flags, horns and patriotic gear to cheer them on from the lakeshore.
Plenty of parking is available. A pre-race email will give participants full information.
