GUIDELINES
Race Format
The Hybrid Classic features 8 × 800m runs, each directly followed by a functional movement station.
Runs and movements must be completed in the prescribed order to earn an official result.
Categories include:
- Hybrid Pairs – Male Open
- Hybrid Pairs – Female Open
- Hybrid Pairs – Coed Open
- Hybrid Pairs – Male Advanced
- Hybrid Pairs – Female Advanced
- Hybrid Pairs – Coed Advanced
- Hybrid Quads – Male Relay Open
- Hybrid Quads – Female Relay Open
- Hybrid Quads - Coed Relay Open
Advanced Pairs:
- Athletes must jump onto the box — no stepping allowed.
- Use heavier kettlebells for the kettlebell swings.
- Use heavier bumper plates for the overhead walking lunges.
Co-Ed Pairs:
- Females perform male standards: male weights, male calories, and male box height.
No qualification is required, and there is no time cap

Competition Rules
- Athletes must complete the 800m run before each movement.
- Movement standards are defined and must be followed at every station.
- Judges will oversee each movement to verify proper form, rep counts, and completion.
- Athletes must clearly signal (e.g., raising a hand) when finished with a station before advancing.
- Equipment weights, distances, and heights are fixed per division and may not be modified.
Pairs - Rules
- Both athletes must remain together during runs and be present before starting any station.
- Reps may be divided as the pair chooses, but only one athlete may perform at a time unless stated otherwise.
- Finish: All teammates must cross the finish line together to receive an official result.
- Coed Pairs must use Male weight & box height.
Quads — Rules
- Teams consist of 4 athletes (any gender combination).
- The run + movement sequence is divided among teammates.
- Only one athlete works at a time.
- Runs and movements must be completed in the prescribed order.
- Teams may decide which athlete completes each run or movement.
- All exchanges occur in the designated relay zone, where the next athlete must tag in before starting.
- The Quads course is the same as the Pairs course.
- Each athlete must complete two consecutive runs & movements (ie., run + movement + run + movement).
- Runs are completed solo.
- Athletes use the weights and machine calories assigned to their gender.
- Athlete completing the final two runs & movements wears the timing chip for the Team.
- Finish - only the Team athlete wearing the timing chip crosses the finish line.
Timing & Scoring
- Athletes will be issued a timing chip which must be worn for the entire event.
- Results are based on fastest total time including all runs and stations.
- Athletes without a valid chip finish will not be recorded.
Penalties & Disqualifications
- Missed or incomplete reps may result in penalty reps or time additions, as determined by a judge.
- Major rule violations (skipping movements, unsafe conduct, ignoring judge instructions) may lead to disqualification.
- Failure to complete the full course in the prescribed order will void the result.
Safety & Operations
- A mandatory athlete briefing will take place before the race.
- The run course and all stations will be clearly marked with signage.
- A warm-up zone will be available prior to start.
- Certified medical staff will be present for the duration of the event.
- Athletes are expected to use all equipment in a safe and controlled manner.
