The event sold out in 2024; we have increased our capacity to 400 participants in 2026!
Whether you’re an experienced sprinter or simply looking for a new life challenge, this event will test your speed, recovery, and mental strength at every stage.
(New Triathletes: Every sprint triathlon has a couple of participants who enjoy their experience with the BARE minimum: Goggles, Shorts, Bike, Helmet, Shoes, Shirt. Are you a first-time triathlete? Don't talk yourself out of a new challenge because you don't have the "gear" others accumulate with time and experience! Click here for a Reddit thread discussing how to approach your first event)
The Hayden Sprint Triathlon begins and ends at beautiful Honeysuckle Beach (2,250 feet of elevation), and is divided into several segments:
SWIM
- ~750 meters / 0.46 miles / 820 yards
- Wetsuits allowed, however are not necessary for a good swim (see the 00:28 second mark of our video for visual confirmation)
- Swimmers will begin in five groups to thin out crowds in the water
- Each athlete is required to wear the provided swim cap, for visibility and safety
- Swim times historically range between 9 - 50 minutes
- Feedback from one multi-year participant: "I love the water conditions on Hayden over any of the other local lakes."

BIKE
- ~20 kilometers / 12.4 miles
- Helmet required
- 2.5 actual hills (the 0.5-hill being a 0.1-mile-hill around mile 2.2)
- Bike times historically range between 33 minutes to 90 minutes
- Begins at transition area's 2,250 ft. elevation, and maxes out around ~2,600 ft. elevation, with a total of 646 ft. in overall elevation gain throughout the course
- As one 71-year old participant shared post-race: "When I saw the course and elevation profile, I was a little worried. I was used to flat courses and wasn't sure about my ability to do this kind of climbing especially on the bike.... So I went out to ride the course and while it's certainly more challenging, it's very doable even for an old guy like me!"

RUN
- ~5 kilometers / 3.1 miles
- Run times historically range between 18 minutes to 60 minutes
- Goes clockwise around the beautiful Hayden Lake Golf Course
