Jack & Jill Downhill Marathon, Half Marathon Washington

Start high, finish fast! The race kicks off at the Hyak parking lot, beginning with a short 400-meter stretch before entering the historic Snoqualmie Tunnel. Bring a flashlight or headlamp to safely navigate the tunnel. Afterward, you can drop your light with volunteers—just label it with your name—and pick it up at the finish.

From there, you’ll cruise along 22 miles of the John Wayne Trail, before making a right turn onto the Snoqualmie Trail for a downhill dash to the finish.

This course features a 2,100-foot net descent, starting at 2,549 feet and finishing at 525 feet. The gentle, steady downhill on hard-packed dirt makes it one of the fastest courses in the region—most runners finish 5–10 minutes faster than on a typical marathon route. With no altitude issues and breathtaking scenery, it’s the perfect PR and Boston Qualifier opportunity!

Starting on the second half of the full marathon course, you’ll enjoy a net 1,100-foot downhill finish on a smooth, hard-packed dirt trail. Most runners run minutes faster than on traditional half marathon courses.

Half marathoners will park off-site, ride a shuttle to the base of the hill, and take a beautiful 1-mile walk to the start line—your warm-up before the fun begins. From there, it’s a steady, speedy descent to the finish with mountain views all the way.
