In 2014, after living outside the United States for several years I moved to Traverse City. I work in international development and have seen a lot of amazing places in this world, but Traverse City and our beautiful watershed is the place I choose to come home to.
I run and bike the trails along the water, swim in the Bay and surrounding lakes, and paddle whenever I can. I love it here and a huge part of the reason are the amazing natural resources we have access to - especially our Great Lakes. Through open water swimming I've found an amazing group of friends who love the water as much as I do. It was actually hard to find a picture to post with this - because I have so many swimming pictures - I chose one from when five of us, including my brother, did the first Mackinac Island swim as a relay team.
I'm committed to raise at least $500 for my swim. This is important to me because protecting our lakes is something we should all be a part of, I'll swim the miles if you help out by donating some money!
The Watershed Center is a nonprofit organization that advocates for the health of Grand Traverse Bay and acts to protect and preserve the bay’s watershed.
