Event Description
Welcome to Witch Paddle, Colorado’s most magical morning on the water.
Each fall, hundreds of witches, warlocks, paddleboarders, kayakers, and magical misfits gather before sunrise for a one-of-a-kind paddle across the lake. Dressed in flowing black cloaks, pointed hats, and creative costumes, participants launch together as the morning mist lifts, creating an unforgettable sight on the water.
What started as a small gathering of 80 witches has grown into a sold-out community celebration with 400+ paddlers, spectators, vendors, music, costumes, and plenty of witchy fun.
Witch Paddle isn’t just about the paddle. It’s about connection, creativity, community, and giving back.
Participants can expect:
A magical sunrise paddle
Hundreds of witches on the water
Costume contests and photo moments
Local vendors and community gathering
A fun, welcoming environment for all skill levels
Witch Paddle is hosted in support of Sacred Sisterhood Collective Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to child safety, women-led community care, and healing-centered programs for women, children, and families.
Proceeds and donations help support child-safety partners, family-wellness initiatives, and the launch of Sacred Sisterhood Collective’s first local programs.
Whether you’re an experienced paddler or just here for the magic, Witch Paddle is an unforgettable way to celebrate the season while supporting a meaningful cause.
So grab your board, your broomstick, and your favorite witch hat.
The coven awaits.

It is highly recommended! Paddling in Colorado in the Fall is sketchy business. We have cold weather and gusty wind.
There is not. I leave those decisions to individuals and parents.
Here's my personal thoughts: I wouldn't bring my kids if they don't have extensive paddle boarding experience. There's a lot of people and the weather can be really sketchy. My kids have been with me annually and there were definitely times I regretted it and had to get them back to shore ASAP due to high winds that were not safe...and we are seasoned paddle boarders. So I would definitely recommend being smart about it and staying super close to shore or only going out for a few minutes if the weather is acting up.
We have a 2 hour window to paddle. 9am to 11am. The event runs from 7am to 1pm - with food trucks and vendos and costume contests during that time.
