Chocolate Chase 5K for Craniofacial Awareness

I have been fortunate to work with people and families living with craniofacial differences since the 1980's at UC San Franciso to the present at Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento. Through my work, I witness amazing strength and tenacity.  How would you respond if you were dealt a different hand?  Imagine living with something different on your face that people notice the minute they meet you. Imagine being a child having to deal with questions or judgement when all you want to do is be like everyone else.  Imagine being in high school but having to wait until you're done growing before you could have your final definitive surgery.  Imagine waiting for your baby to be born, knowing they will have a craniofacial difference and wondering how to let your friends and family know. Imagine parenting a child through multiple surgeries, helping them to navigate social norms about physical beauty, and trying your best to nurture their self-esteem, confidence, and success in life.  It isn't easy, but people I know do these things every day.  It is my hope that this event will be a place where judgement is cast aside, where each participant feels special about who they are and how they were created.  It is time to celebrate every face in our community.  With love on behalf of this very special group of people, thank you for your support!
